Goldfrapp
“Ride A White Horse”/”Ooh La La”
Live at the O2 Wireless Festival, 2006

I reviewed Goldfrapp’s The Singles for Pitchfork today. In a way, it was my chance to offer a different take on the band from the publication’s previous reviews of their albums, which basically amounts to a murderer’s row of writers who I admire – Matt LeMay! Michael Idov! Nitsuh Abebe! Nate Patrin! Marc Hogan! – writing things I passionately disagree with. Matt LeMay’s review of Felt Mountain is actually quite glowing, but there’s just no way he’s not embarrassed by the weirdly macho and sexist tone of his piece, which he wrote as a teenager.
