I actually met her at the restaurant where I worked. Last year, she came into the restaurant with her mom. I was waiting on her. The whole reason I came to New York was to find a female vocalist. I had nothing else going on. I was barbacking in Florida. One of my good friends lives up here, and I wasn’t really having any luck down there, so I just came up. And any girl that I met, I immediately asked them if they were a singer. Most of the time the girls just assumed I was hitting on them and didn’t really take me seriously. Alexis was the first one that took it seriously. It was ridiculous because I was her waiter, writing my email down and giving it to her and saying, “It really is about music. I have some stuff, and I would love to play it for you.” It was her mom who pointed out that she was a vocalist. She was kind of drunk. It was really very lucky that she turned out to be a really great person and is now a really great friend of mine.
