I think Muxtape is different exactly because there is no expectation of review or commentary. It is, very innocently, a place to post and share music with whomever you’d like to send the link to. Much like tumblr, it acts as a simplified way to go about something that the internet has long made available.

Oh sure, and that’s fine. If anything, I’m just being snippy because it’s obvious that online music culture is moving toward totally phasing out writing and criticism — I mean, a lot of what you see on mp3 blogs and increasingly on Pitchfork is just ad copy — and I’m not crazy about that. My site was invoked in the source post, which is nice, I’m glad anyone cares at all to namecheck me lately, but you know, I think my site is more about the writing and less about the fact that you download the songs. That novelty wore off a really long time ago. I’m probably just being vain.
