- they have no talent
- absolutely none
- it's beyond subjective taste
- it's just really young white kids with way too much equipment
- this is what the Animal Collective has done to our world
- you know how we had all these no-talent punk bands, and you could be at least like "hey, they get out some anger and attitude, it's charming, it's functional"
- in the post-Animal Collective world, instead of anger, they just inarticulately express their shyness, snobbishness, and passive-aggression
- and it's not charming or functional

- it's far too uptight
- it's people who have no confidence
- but need that narcissistic outlet anyway
- it's the zeitgeist.
- it's people playing at "avant garde" without knowing at all what they are doing
- or having any real ideas
- you can sucker people with drones, you know?

- and they front as being pretentious and arty
- but they are obviously dumb.
- they have nothing in their head, and no matter what they think, the music they are making is nothing so much as an expression of bland conformity in their social context
