Continuing on with extremely geeky Sonic Youth thoughts:
I am presently procrastinating like crazy, and just spent some time thinking about A Thousand Leaves, and coming up with an alternate tracklisting for the album that would be more listenable and superior to the official product.
This is what I came up with:

05 Wildflower Soul

07 The Ineffable Me
08 Karen Koltrane
It’s still very long at about 56 minutes — half of the songs are in the 7 to 10 minute range, what can you do? — but it’s much tighter, more manageable, and I think it flows better. On vinyl, it’d be four sides: Anagrama/Sunday, Female Mechanic/Hoarfrost, Wildflower/French, Ineffable/Karen K
Anyway, try it out.
