Blonde Redhead
“Melody of Certain Three”
Live in Brooklyn 2010

There are some songs that have a way of bubbling up to the top of my head, the melodies or rhythms will just take up space when there’s nothing much there. This one comes up a lot, which is sorta odd because I very rarely listen to Blonde Redhead, and I have a much stronger connection to “In Particular,” the song immediately before it on the album. But there’s just something in that rhythm guitar that really sunk into my brain. I wonder if, when purely musical parts lodge in our minds, if it’s something to do with that bit connecting with some abstract part of our brain that processes something we perceive in the world and that’s why it comes back to us. Our brain catches the connection on a level the conscious mind does not.
