An Introduction to Hauschka

DOWNLOAD IT!

Volker Bertelmann, the German pianist and composer otherwise known as Hauschka, has written and recorded some of the most beautiful and engaging instrumental music of the past decade. His approach changes somewhat from album to album, but his specialty is composing for the prepared piano — ie, a piano that has been physically altered to produce unusual tones. Don’t be scared off by his high brow cred — this music is very accessible and easy to enjoy. Even if instrumental piano-centric music is not something you would normally try, I strongly encourage you to give this a shot.
